Very expected game when 12th ranked Xerez (1-19) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Badajoz (9-11) 90-52 on Saturday. Badajoz forced 24 Xerez turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Xerez's players. The best player for the winners was Markos Baknal who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Dutch point guard Jaron Held (187-2002) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Gibraltar power forward Alejandro Garcia (198-2001) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and Albanian center Martin Krypcy (211-2003) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Badajoz maintains seventh position with 9-11 record, which they share with Oh!Tels ULB and Novaschool. Xerez lost nineteenth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 19 games lost. Badajoz will meet Coria (#9) on the road in the next round. Xerez will play against Cimbis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
