Very important is a road loss of third ranked Castello (16-5) against fourth ranked Girona (15-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Castello was defeated by Girona in a tough game in Girona 51-56. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Castello. Girona made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Castello turnovers. Strangely Castello outrebounded Girona 44-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. French guard Faustine Parra (165-2000) scored 11 points and 6 steals (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Vanessa Gonzalez (184-1994) chipped in 5 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Laura Campos (-2001) responded with 7 points and 9 rebounds and Angolan-Portuguese power forward Artemis Afonso (175-1993) scored 4 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Girona have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in Group B with 15-5 record. Loser Castello keeps the third place with five games lost. Girona will meet league's second-placed Viladecans in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
