Regular Season Round 24: Gernika - Ensino 84-75

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Gernika (10-11) defeated at home 12th ranked Ensino (8-15) 84-75 on Saturday. Gernika dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ensino's 34 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Tinara Moore (190-1996, college: CMU) who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). The other American import Margaret Roundtree (183-1988, college: Gardner-Webb) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gernika players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Laura Aliaga (182-1994) who recorded 22 points and forward Helena Oma (180-1996) added 8 points and 7 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gernika moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Estudiantes. Loser Ensino keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Gernika will meet Araski (#11) in the next round. Ensino will play against Estudiantes and hope to secure a win.
