Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked De La Torre (3-19) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Unicaja (15-5) 72-67 on Saturday. Unicaja outrebounded De La Torre 43-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-1988) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Jaterra Bonds (170-1992, college: Florida) chipped in 23 points during the contest. At the losing side Carmen Ramirez (-2002) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Ana Moyano (-1996) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Unicaja have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in Group A with 15-5 record. De La Torre lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. Unicaja will meet at home Genero (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. De La Torre will play against Cordoba and hope to secure a win.
