Regular Season Round 19: Pyrinto - Honka 89-77

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Honka (9-5) against fifth ranked Pyrinto (9-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Honka was defeated by Pyrinto in Tampere 89-77. Honka was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 47-34 second half run of Pyrinto. They also forced 21 Honka turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Brunel Madzou (185-2005) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Guard Aaron Montonen (192-2005) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side guard Riku Korhonen (192-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and forward Aamos Laavainen (204-2003) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Honka's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Pyrinto moved-up to third place, which they share with Kouvot. Honka at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Pyrinto will play against Kataja (#9) in Joensuu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Honka will play at home against Vilpas (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
