Regular Season Round 23: Ridzene - RSU 2 40-71

One of the most interesting games of round 23 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. The game took place in Riga where leader RSU 2 outleveled host Ridzene (11-5) 71-40. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ridzene. The game without a history. RSU 2 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Ridzene's 22. RSU 2 forced 24 Ridzene turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Liza Cumika (181-1999) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian forward Ieva Stefanija Jundase (178-1994) accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Latvian Liva Krumina (184-2003) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Liva Gode (170-2004) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Ridzene in the defeat. RSU 2 (18-0) have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 18 victories in a row. Ridzene at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. RSU 2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ridzene will play at home against Saldus and hopes to get back on the winning track.
