Regular Season Round 23: Liepaja/LSSS - RSU 55-88

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Liepaja/LSSS (15-7) was crushed at home by sixth ranked RSU (13-10) 88-55 on Saturday. RSU dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Liepaja/LSSS's 32. RSU forced 21 Liepaja/LSSS turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Marta Leimane (178-2003) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Luize Septe (180-1999, college: S.Florida) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four RSU players scored in double figures. Point guard Enija Kivite (176-2003) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and Brazilian Maiara Pereira (185-2002, agency: Interperformances) added 5 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for RSU. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aistes-LSMU. Loser Liepaja/LSSS keeps the fourth position with seven games lost.
