Regular Season Round 7: Orbi - Mgzavrebi 85-77

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Orbi (#4) and Mgzavrebi (#5). Orbi (3-2) won against visiting Mgzavrebi (0-5) 85-77. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Orbi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Erekle Lortqifanidze (185-1995) fired 33 points (!!!) for the winners. Forward Irakli Beshqenadze (207-1991) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Orbi's coach Irakli Tomaradze used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Vladimer Alavidze (195-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds and forward Giorgi Meskhi (204-2003) added 23 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Orbi maintains fourth place with 3-2 record. Mgzavrebi at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Orbi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Kavkasia.
