Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-15) lost to third ranked Hapoel Holon (11-6) in Rishon Le-Zion 62-78 on Sunday. The winners were led by American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-1989, college: Wichita St.) who scored that evening 18 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and American Tyrus McGee (188-1991, college: Iowa St., agency: Alti Sport) supported him with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by American swingman Anthony Brown (199-1992, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Rishon. His fellow American import point guard Tu Holloway (183-1989, college: Xavier) added 17 points and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the hosts. Maccabi Rishon's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hapoel Holon have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Maccabi Rishon lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Hapoel Holon will meet at home Hapoel Beer Sheva (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina and hope to secure a win.
