Regular Season Round 21: Kipina - Kataja Ta. 95-75

There was no surprise in Aanekoski where 6th ranked Kataja Ta. (3-10) was outplayed by second ranked Kipina (9-4) 95-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kipina. Kataja Ta. managed to win fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kataja Ta. 38-25 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Ricardo Glenn (203-1990, college: USC Upstate, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Josh McFolley (185-1997, college: Detroit) chipped in 30 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Kalle Kuivalainen (183-2005) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and center Miika Smolander (201-2003) added 14 points respectively. Four Kataja Ta. players scored in double figures. Kataja Ta.'s coach Marko Tuononen tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Kipina maintains second place in 1st Division with 9-4 record despite having the same number of points like the leader PuHu Juniorit. Kataja Ta. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Kipina will meet league's leader HyPo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kataja Ta. will play against JyWe (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
