Regular Season Round 7: Gtuni - Kavkasia 91-75

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Gtuni (#1) and Kavkasia (#2). Gtuni (6-0) crushed visiting Kavkasia (4-2) by 16 points 91-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kavkasia. The game was mostly controlled by Gtuni. Kavkasia was better in third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gtuni had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Eric Frederick (203-1989, college: TxWes) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Collin Turner (185-1995, college: Angelo St.) contributed with 24 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Gtuni players scored in double figures. Guard Jordan Grant (190-1996, college: W.Connecticut) answered with 20 points and swingman Markese Mayfield (196-1995, college: Ferris St.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kavkasia. Kavkasia's coach Beqa Tsivtsivadze rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gtuni have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Gtuni maintains first place with 6-0 record. Kavkasia at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Astrali. Gtuni's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Astrali.
