Very expected game in Wloclawek where 11th ranked Spojnia (10-14) was defeated by fourth ranked Anwil (17-8) 108-97 on Monday. Anwil made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Spojnia outrebounded Anwil 38-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Jonah Mathews (190-1998, college: USC) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners and American-Palestinian Kyndall Dykes (192-1987, college: New Orleans, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Dykes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Anwil's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Admon Gilder (193-1995, college: Gonzaga) responded with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import center Baylee Steele (213-1997, college: Duquesne, agency: One Motive Sports) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Five Anwil and four Spojnia players scored in double figures. Anwil moved-up to second place. Loser Spojnia keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Anwil will meet at home Legia (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Spojnia will play against Stal (#4) and hope to secure a win.
