Rather predictable result in Akranes where eighth ranked Skallagrimur (10-15) smashed bottom-ranked IA (1-24) 94-73 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Skallagrimur led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to IA's 34. They outrebounded IA 49-38 including 37 on the defensive glass. Skallagrimur looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Bosnian center Simun Kovac (203-1996, college: Concord) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American forward Bryan Battle (196-1999, college: FHU, agency: IceBasket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. Guard Thordur Jonsson (180-2005) produced 18 points and 4 assists and American swingman Chris Clover (190-1997, college: St.Joseph's) added 20 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Skallagrimur maintains eighth place with 10-15 record. IA lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 24 lost games. Skallagrimur will meet at home higher ranked Selfoss (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. IA will play against Sindri and hope to win that game.
