Important game to mention about took place in Monaco. Second ranked Monaco (17-7) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked SIG Strasbourg (14-10) 105-103 on Wednesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Monaco shot 27 for 36 from the free-throw line, while SIG Strasbourg only scored ten points from the stripe. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. SIG Strasbourg was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American Dwayne Bacon (201-1995, college: FSU) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Mike James (185-1990, college: Lamar) accounted for 17 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Monaco's coach Sasa Obradovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Nigerian-American Ike Joseph Udanoh (202-1989, college: WSU) came up with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard DeAndre Lansdowne (188-1989, college: Fort Lewis, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for SIG Strasbourg in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Monaco have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Levallois lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. SIG Strasbourg at the other side dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. Monaco will again play against SIG Strasbourg (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SIG Strasbourg will have a break next round.
