Regular Season Round 23: Dijon - Cholet 80-87

An interesting game took place in Dijon where higher ranked JDA Dijon (13-9) was upset on its own court by thirteenth ranked Cholet Basket (10-13) 87-80 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JDA Dijon. Cholet Basket made 28-of-28 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They outrebounded JDA Dijon 39-26 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Dominic Artis (192-1993, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 22 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Five Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. American Rashard Kelly (203-1995, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago-American Khadeen Carrington (193-1995, college: Seton Hall) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cholet Basket moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Gravelines. Loser JDA Dijon dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Cholet Basket will meet at home higher ranked Limoges CSP Elite (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JDA Dijon will play against Chalons-Reims and hope to secure a win.
