Regular Season Round 23: Unicaja - Genero 59-68

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Genero (6-12) won against 4th placed Unicaja (15-6) in Malaga 68-59 on Saturday. Genero forced 19 Unicaja turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Bolivian point guard Romina Rodriguez (167-1992) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Imani Robinson (180-1997, college: UIW) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Four Genero players scored in double figures. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-1988) came up with 8 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Elena Moreno added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Unicaja in the defeat. Unicaja's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Genero have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place in Group A. Loser Unicaja keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Genero will meet at home higher ranked Barakaldo (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unicaja will play against Arxil (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
