Very expected game in Riga where 10th ranked Saldus (3-14) were defeated by fourth ranked Ridzene (12-5) 86-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 17 points. Ridzene forced 28 Saldus turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Saldus' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian Liva Krumina (184-2003) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and guard Liva Gode (170-2004) who added 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Latvian guard Marta Bluma (172-2004) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Latvian forward Paula Mikalauska (173-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ridzene moved-up to third place. Loser Saldus keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Ridzene's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena RSU 2.
