Regular Season Round 8: Astrali - Gtuni 62-81
Date: March 19, 2022
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Gtuni (#1) and Astrali (#3). Astrali was smashed at home by 19 points 62-81 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Astrali. The game was mostly controlled by Gtuni. Astrali was better in third quarter 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gtuni had a 38-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Eric Frederick (203-1989, college: TxWes) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Jamani Pierce (200-1996, college: ENMU) who added 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Gtuni players scored in double figures. Gtuni's coach Davit Nozadze used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Evan Milligan (200-1997, college: Life) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and forward Evan Hinson (196-1997, college: Austin Peay) scored 15 points. Gtuni (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted Gtuni maintains first position with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Astrali at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with three games lost. Gtuni's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Mgzavrebi.
