Regular Season Round 23: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Gravelines 87-82

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (10-13) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (14-9) 87-82 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Pau-Lacq-Orthez made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-1991, college: MSU Denver) who scored 19 points and 7 assists. Naturalized Congolese Giovan Oniangue (196-1991) chipped in 14 points. Five Pau-Lacq-Orthez players scored in double figures. American guard John Jenkins (193-1991, college: Vanderbilt) produced 23 points and Ivorian swingman Vafessa Fofana (198-1992) added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pau-Lacq-Orthez. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Gravelines-Dunkerque dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Cholet. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against Le Portel (#14) and hope to secure a win.
