There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Avellino (7-16) outplayed at home higher ranked Sant Antimo (13-10) 76-51 on Sunday. Avellino made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Avellino outrebounded Sant Antimo 40-24 including a 37-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Giuseppe Basile (190-1995) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Norman Hassan (197-1990) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Avellino players scored in double figures. Point guard Carlo Cantone (185-1985) came up with 12 points and point guard Roberto Maggio (183-1990, agency: Players Group) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Sant Antimo in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Avellino moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Bologna Basket and Olginate. Loser Sant Antimo dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with 4 other teams.
