There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Cornella (11-11) beat on the road 6th ranked Cartagena (11-10) 82-77 on Sunday. Center Eduard Arques (202-1994) notched 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Raimon Carrasco (188-1999) supported him with 17 points. Four Cornella players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by American guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-1996, college: Findlay, OH) did not help to save the game for Cartagena. Power forward Samuel Rodriguez (202-1997) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Cornella maintains eighth position in Silver with 11-11 record. Newly promoted Cartagena keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Cornella will meet at home higher ranked Menorca (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cartagena will play against Valencia 2 and hope to secure a win.
