Eighth-ranked San Giovanni (10-14) gave a tough game to second ranked Bologna (18-5) in Sesto San Giovanni on Sunday. The visitors from Bologna managed to secure only two-point victory 65-63. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian Ivana Dojkic (180-1997) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 steals and international forward Cecilia Zandalasini (186-1996) who added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Puerto Rican guard Jazmon Gwathmey (188-1993, college: JMU) with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Valeria Trucco (191-1999, agency: LBM Management) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four San Giovanni players scored in double figures. Bologna have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-5 record having just one point less than leader Schio. San Giovanni lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. Bologna are looking forward to face Costa Masnaga (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. San Giovanni will play against Campobasso and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
