Second Stage Round 8: Kouvot - Seagulls 89-94

The most important game in the last round took place in Kouvola between second ranked Kouvot (20-10) and fifth ranked Seagulls (17-13) on Tuesday night. Kouvot was defeated by Seagulls in a tough game at home 89-94. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kouvot. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-89. Seagulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international Shawn Huff (198-1984, college: Valpo) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the former international Tuukka Kotti (205-1981, college: Providence) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American guard Tray Boyd III (193-1998, college: ETSU) responded with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Sudanese swingman Makuach Maluach (196-1998, college: N.Mexico) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Seagulls moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KTP Basket. Kouvot at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Seagulls is looking forward to face higher ranked Vilpas (#3) in Salo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kouvot will play at home against Pyrinto and is hoping to win this game.
