Second Stage Round 10: PeKa - ToPo 88-60

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kotka. First ranked Peli-Karhut faced their biggest opponent Torpan Pojat. Host Peli-Karhut (24-3) smashed guests from Helsinki (17-10) 88-60. It looked good early as Torpan Pojat took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Peli-Karhut had a 29-13 second period charge getting the lead and Torpan Pojat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-88. They outrebounded Torpan Pojat 44-33 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Zykera Rice (185-1996, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Erika Davenport (182, college: Marquette) replied with 8 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Gabriella Bronson (178-1993, college: UW-Parkside) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Torpan Pojat. Peli-Karhut have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-3 record. Torpan Pojat at the other side dropped to the third place with ten games lost.
