Regular Season Round 23: Cornella - Menorca 68-65

The most exciting game of round 23 in the LEB Silver took place in Cornella. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Menorca (15-9) to seventh ranked Cornella (12-13) 68-65 on Saturday evening. Strangely Menorca outrebounded Cornella 43-29 including a 18-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Cornella especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Menorca helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for center Eduard Arques (202-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Raimon Carrasco (188-1999) helped adding 19 points. Puerto Rican point guard Jhivvan Jackson (183, college: UTSA) responded with 25 points and French center Thomas Smallwood (213-1995, college: Chattanooga) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Cornella went down to eighth position (Silver) due to points difference. Menorca at the other side dropped to the third place with nine games lost. Cornella are looking forward to face Valencia 2 (#9) on the road in the next round. Menorca will play against Mollet (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
