There was no surprise when 14th ranked Marratxi (1-22) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Girona (17-5) 62-51 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was guard Anna Jodar (170-1995) who scored 17 points. French guard Faustine Parra (165-2000) chipped in 8 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian point guard Mirjana Beronja (170-1986) who recorded 9 points and 6 rebounds and Laura Garcia added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Girona have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Castello. Marratxi lost seventeenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Girona will meet Almeda (#7) in the next round. Marratxi will play against Azulejos (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
