There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Clavijo (12-13) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Algeciras (9-16) 85-79 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was naturalized Senegalese center Serigne Ndiaye (204-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. American swingman Maverick Rowan (201-1996, college: NC State) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Bernardo Garcia (183-1992) produced 12 points and 6 assists and Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-1995, college: Jefferson) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Algeciras and five Clavijo players scored in double figures. Clavijo's coach Jenaro Diaz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Algeciras maintains twelfth place in Silver with 9-16 record. Loser Clavijo keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Algeciras will meet higher ranked Zamora (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Clavijo will play against Gijon (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
