Regular Season Round 28: Maresme - Azkoitia 63-48

Bottom-ranked Maresme managed to get a second victory, breaking the fourteen-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fourteenth-ranked Azkoitia in Barcelona 63-48. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference proves that Maresme was well-prepared to that game. Maresme outrebounded Azkoitia 46-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Adrijana Knezevic (183-1987) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gedna Capel (185-2002) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands center Anisha George (188-1998, college: N.Texas) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and guard Juana Molina-Prados (174-1991) added 7 points and 4 assists in the effort for Azkoitia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maresme maintains sixteenth position with 2-24 record. Azkoitia at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. Maresme are looking forward to face higher ranked Joventut (#13) in Badalona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Azkoitia will play at home against Paterna and is hoping to win this game.
