Regular Season Round 25: RSU 2 - Jurmala 69-55

Rather expected game when 4th placed Jurmala (12-8) lost to leader RSU 2 (20-0) in Riga 55-69 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-55. RSU 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 34 of its points in the paint compared to Jurmala's 12. RSU 2 forced 29 Jurmala turnovers. Strangely Jurmala outrebounded RSU 2 44-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. Guard Baiba Eglite (176-1989, college: UTEP) nailed 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Latvian guard Laura Okuneva (177-2000) accounted for 11 points and 5 assists. Four RSU 2 players scored in double figures. Latvian guard Zozefine Sipolina (173-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Latvian swingman Paula Petersone (168-2004) added 20 points respectively for Jurmala in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. RSU 2 have an impressive series of twenty victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-0 record. Loser Jurmala keeps the fourth position with eight games lost.
