There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Le Portel (9-16) beat at home higher ranked JSF Nanterre (13-12) 87-71 on Tuesday. Le Portel shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Devin Davis (198-1995, college: Houston) nailed 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Beninese power forward Mouphtaou Yarou (206-1990, college: Villanova) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Jeremy Senglin (188-1995, college: Weber St.) came up with 13 points and 4 assists and Armenian-American center Luke Fischer (211-1994, college: Marquette) added 14 points respectively for JSF Nanterre in the defeat. Le Portel moved-up to fifteenth place. Loser JSF Nanterre dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Le Portel will meet higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JSF Nanterre will play against JL Bourg (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
