Regular Season Round 28: Haukar - Breidablik 74-65
Date: March 30, 2022
There was no surprise in Hafnarfjordur where 6th ranked Breidablik (6-18) was defeated by third ranked Haukar (15-9) 74-65. It looked good early as Breidablik took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Haukar had a 30-23 second period charge getting the lead and Breidablik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-74. Haukar forced 19 Breidablik turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Lovisa Henningsdottir (187-1995, college: Marist) who helped to win the game recording 31 points. The former international power forward Elisabeth Aegisdottir (186-2003) contributed with 3 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Haukar's coach Bjarni Magnusson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Isabella Sigurdardottir (187-1997) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Thordis Kristjansdottir (170-1999) added 18 points in the effort for Breidablik. Four Breidablik players scored in double figures. Haukar maintains third position with 15-9 record behind leader Fjolnir. Breidablik lost third consecutive game.
