Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Stjarnan (13-9) edged 9th ranked Breidablik (9-13) in Kopavogur 107-105 on Thursday. Breidablik was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 30-21 charge of Stjarnan, which allowed them to win the game. Stjarnan outrebounded Breidablik 45-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Robert Turner III (193-1993, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Finnish guard Shawn Hopkins (198-1995, college: N.Georgia, agency: Blacktop Management) supported him with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Stjarnan's coach Arnar Gudjonsson used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international guard Hilmar Petursson (190-2000) did not help to save the game for Breidablik. The former international forward Danero Thomas (194-1986, college: Murray St.) added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Stjarnan maintains sixth position with 13-9 record. Newly promoted Breidablik keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost.
