Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked La Rochelle (6-8) defeated on the road 10th ranked Lyon (4-10) 79-75 on Friday. La Rochelle made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Forward Franck Seguela (198-1997) notched 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Cheikh Gassama (193-1995) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by power forward Kevin Kokila (204-2001) did not help to save the game for Lyon. The former international point guard Marc-Antoine Pellin (171-1987) added 6 points and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lyon's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Rochelle moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rueil and Mulhouse. Lyon lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Toulouse. La Rochelle will meet at home Caen (#9) in the next round. Lyon will play against the league's leader Etoile Angers and hope to secure a win.
