Regular Season Round 25: Bologna Basket - Desio 81-76

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Bologna Basket (8-17) won against at home higher ranked Desio (13-12) 81-76 on Saturday. Bologna Basket made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Desio turnovers. Strangely Desio outrebounded Bologna Basket 43-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Forward Andrea Graziani (191-1998) stepped up and scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and center Eugenio Beretta (208-1996) chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Bologna Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side Andrea Mazzoleni (197-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Bulgarian center Nikolay Vangelov (212-1996) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Desio's coach Gabriele Ghirelli tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Bologna Basket moved-up to twelfth place in B, which they share with Crema and Olginate. Newly promoted Desio keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Vicenza and Fiorenzuola. Bologna Basket will meet Bernareggio (#16) on the road in the next round. Desio will play against Vicenza (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
