Regular Season Round 26: Monaco - Orleans 84-71

No shocking result in a game when fourteenth ranked Monaco (8-15) beat at home bottom-ranked Orleans (3-21) 84-71 on Saturday. Monaco forced 23 Orleans turnovers. Strangely Orleans outrebounded Monaco 47-31 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Matys Pommier (196-2002) notched 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and Monaco guard Nicolas Vanel (193-2003) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Monaco's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds by power forward Philippe Correia (203-2001) did not help to save the game for Orleans. Power forward Andy Sigiscar (203-2004) added 11 points and 17 rebounds for the guests. Five Monaco and four Orleans players scored in double figures. Monaco maintains fourteenth position with 8-15 record. Orleans lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Monaco will meet higher ranked Le Portel (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Orleans will play against the league's leader ASVEL (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
