Regular Season Round 19: Cactus - Batumi 79-84

There was no surprise in Tbilisi where 9th ranked Cactus (6-11) were defeated by fifth ranked Batumi (9-7) 84-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Batumi outrebounded Cactus 44-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American swingman Spencer Collins (196-1993, college: Wofford) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Saba Lobjanidze (197-1993) helped adding 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Derick Newton (198-1995, college: Stetson) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Revaz Rogava (191-1993) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Batumi and five Cactus players scored in double figures. Batumi moved-up to fourth place. Cactus lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Rustavi. Batumi will meet at home Tskhum-Abkhazeti (#8) in the next round. Cactus' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena TSU.
