No shocking result in a game when third ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (17-8) outleveled at home 15th ranked Le Portel (9-17) 85-65 on Sunday. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Victor Wembanyama (220-2004) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-1995) chipped in 21 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Beninese power forward Mouphtaou Yarou (206-1990, college: Villanova) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Ivorian-American swingman Charles Abouo (196-1989, college: BYU) added 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 17-8 record behind leader Levallois. Loser Le Portel keeps the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will meet Entente Orleans 45 (#17) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Le Portel will play against the league's second-placed Monaco and hope to secure a win.
