There was no surprise when 4th placed Taranto (15-10) was defeated on the road by first ranked Agrigento (22-2) 72-61 on Sunday. Agrigento outrebounded Taranto 32-21 including 29 on the defensive glass. Naturalized Argentinian forward Albano Chiarastella (195-1985, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Argentinian guard Nicolas Morici (191-1994, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side power forward Biagio Sergio (200-1986) responded with 14 points and power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-1994) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Taranto players scored in double figures. Agrigento maintains first place in B with 22-2 record. Loser Taranto dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Bergamo. Agrigento will meet at home Pozzuoli (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Taranto will play against Cassino (#12) and hope to secure a win.
