Regular Season Round 23: Torino - Ponzano 62-47

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Torino (2-20) beat at home higher ranked Ponzano (9-13) 62-47 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for Finnish point guard Anni Jamsa (169-1995) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Swingman Agnese Bevolo (175-2002, agency: DC Sports) accounted for 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Dutch center Richelle Van Der Keijl (196-1993, college: N.Mexico) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Viviana Giordano (175-1989) added 7 points respectively for Ponzano in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Torino maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 2-20 record. Loser Ponzano keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Torino will meet at home higher ranked Bolzano AV (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ponzano will play against Mantova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
