The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Hapoel Jerusalem) loss. Maccabi Tel-Aviv smashed 9th ranked Galil Gilboa in Tel Aviv 84-61. Maccabi Tel-Aviv made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while Galil Gilboa only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Galil Gilboa 42-30 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Galil Gilboa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American forward James Nunnally (201-1990, college: UCSB) who scored that evening 16 points and international power forward Roman Sorkin (208-1996, college: Oregon) supported him with 15 points. Even 13 points by American guard Tyus Battle (197-1997, college: Syracuse) did not help to save the game for Galil Gilboa. His fellow American import guard London Perrantes (187-1994, college: Virginia) added 8 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi Tel-Aviv have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with H.Jerusalem. Galil Gilboa at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with H.Eilat.
