Second Stage Round 7: Stade Rochelais - Caen 72-58

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Caen (5-10) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked La Rochelle (7-8) 72-58 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for guard Gaetan Clerc (189-1991) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 assists. American forward Keith Wright (203-1989, college: Harvard) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four La Rochelle players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Florian Thibedore (193-1990) responded with 13 points and naturalized DR Congolese point guard Carl Ona-Embo (188-1989) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Rochelle have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Caen dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. La Rochelle will meet C'Chartres (#7) on the road in the next round. Caen will play against the league's second-placed Poitiers and hope to secure a win.
