There was an upset when higher ranked Piombino (12-14) was smashed on the road by thirteenth ranked Oleggio (10-16) 83-64 on Saturday. Oleggio outrebounded Piombino 43-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. Guard Fabio Giampieri (190-1993, agency: SLN) notched 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Alessandro Riva (205-1998) supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Oleggio's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by center Giacomo Eliantonio (206-1988) did not help to save the game for Piombino. Guard Mattia Venucci (185-1990, agency: SLN) added 18 points for the guests. Oleggio maintains thirteenth position in B with 10-16 record. Loser Piombino dropped to the ninth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Monfalcone. Oleggio will meet higher ranked Varese (#11) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Piombino will play against Livorno Libertas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
