There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Cornella (12-14) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Real Canoe (11-14) 86-71 on Sunday. Real Canoe made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Cornella only scored five points from the stripe. Guinea-Bissau forward Sidney Correia (204-1999) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Jorge Parra (192-1998) chipped in 25 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest. Four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. Center Eduard Arques (202-1994) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Guinean center Oumar Barry (211, college: SJSU) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Real Canoe maintains eleventh position in Silver with 11-14 record. Loser Cornella dropped to the ninth place with 14 games lost.
