Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Savona (10-14) was outplayed at home by second ranked La Spezia (19-5) 80-58 on Wednesday. La Spezia made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Savona turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Power forward Silvia Colognesi (182-2002) stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Angelica Castellani (172-2000) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four La Spezia players scored in double figures. La Spezia's coach Marco Corsolini felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Sara Nezaj (182-2001) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and forward Carolina Salvestrini (178-2000) scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. La Spezia maintains second place in A2 with 19-5 record having just two points less than leader Valdarno. Newly promoted Savona keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. La Spezia will meet Civitanova (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Savona will play against Nico Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
