Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Vendee Challans and one of their biggest challengers Avignon/Pontet had identical 6-5 record. This time Vendee Challans used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Avignon 72-70 on Friday night. Vendee Challans had a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Kevin Bichard (196-1986) fired 18 points for the winners. American power forward Jason Jones (203-1986, college: Northeastern St.) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Point guard Geoffrey Bourcier (183-1988) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and American-Jamaican Duane Morgan (198-1993, college: Adelphi) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Vendee Challans (7-5) moved-up to third place. Loser Avignon/Pontet dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Pole France. Vendee Challans will meet GET Vosges (#7) in the next round. Avignon/Pontet will play against the league's second-placed Union Rennes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
