There was an upset in S'Arenal where higher ranked Girona (16-12) was defeated by seventeenth ranked Palma (9-20) 78-73 on Saturday. American guard Elijah Brown (193-1995, college: Oregon) stepped up and scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and naturalized Bulgarian forward Konstantin Kostadinov (204-2003) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Palma players scored in double figures. International center Marc Gasol (216-1985) responded with 27 points and 9 rebounds and Norwegian forward Karamo Jawara (203-1991, college: NCCU) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Girona's coach Carles Marco tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Palma maintains seventeenth place with 9-20 record. Newly promoted Girona dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Palma will meet higher ranked Almansa (#13) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Girona will play against Oviedo (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
