Regular Season Round 25: Milano - Ponzano 76-44

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Ponzano (11-14) was crushed on the road by third ranked Milano (19-6) 76-44 on Saturday. Milano outrebounded Ponzano 43-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Ponzano's players. Guard Elisabetta Penz (170-1996) stepped up and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-1995) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Dutch center Richelle Van Der Keijl (196-1993, college: N.Mexico) responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds and forward Claudia Gobbo (180-1998) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Milano maintains third place in A2 with 19-6 record having just one point less than leader Valdarno. Loser Ponzano keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Milano will meet league's leader Crema on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ponzano will play against Treviso (#12) and hope to secure a win.
