Regular Season Round 27: Sassari - Venezia 63-66

The most exciting game of round 27 in the Serie A took place in Sassari. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Sassari (13-13) to fifth ranked Venezia (15-12) 66-63 on Saturday evening. Venezia made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American point guard Julyan Stone (198-1988, college: UTEP) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import center Mitchell Watt (208-1989, college: Buffalo, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-1989, agency: BeoBasket) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian forward Eimantas Bendzius (207-1990) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sassari. Sassari's coach Demis Cavina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Venezia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tortona. Sassari at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Venezia is looking forward to face Treviso (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sassari will play against Napoli (#14) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
