There was no surprise in Ponte Buggianese where 13th ranked Nico Basket (5-20) was crushed by eleventh ranked San Salvatore (10-12) 68-47 on Saturday. San Salvatore made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Bulgarian point guard Karina Konstantinova (173-1999) stepped up and scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Silvia Ceccarelli (182-1996) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Five San Salvatore players scored in double figures. San Salvatore's coach Roberto Fioretto felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Chiara Bacchini (180-1998, college: Quinnipiac) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Bosnian Marina Dzinic (190-1992) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. San Salvatore moved-up to ninth place in A2. Loser Nico Basket keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. San Salvatore will meet at home higher ranked Umbertide (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nico Basket will play against Savona (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
