There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Piombino (13-14) outplayed at home 7th ranked Livorno Libertas (13-14) 86-58 on Sunday. Piombino made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for center Giacomo Eliantonio (206-1988) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Mattia Venucci (185-1990, agency: SLN) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Piombino players scored in double figures. Center Ivan Morgillo (206-1992, agency: Players Group) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Antonello Ricci (190-1992) added 12 points and 4 steals respectively for Livorno Libertas in the defeat. Livorno Libertas' coach Alessandro Fantozzi gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Piombino moved-up to seventh place in B. Piombino will meet higher ranked Langhe Roero (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Livorno Libertas will play against the league's second-placed Vigevano where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
